It’s a fact of life that as soon as you drive your new car off the lot, (actually even before then), the harsh elements, (including wildlife), start taking their toll on your car’s pristine paint job. From oxidation to water spots to bird poop, your car’s exterior engages in a daily battle to stay shiny and protect your vehicle.

While you can easily protect the interior of your car with sun shades, dashboard covers and car seat covers the outside takes a little more work.

Maintaining your car’s paint in perfect condition can be quite a challenge. Bird bombs are a simple fact of life. In addition to looking really nasty, they are very damaging to your car’s paint. Take care as soon as possible to remove bird droppings.

Regular polishing is the best way to remove bird bomb damage, water spots and swirl marks. Choose a good polish, good tools, and be patient. To keep spots to a minimum, try using a detailing spray after you wash. A good detailing spray contains wax or silicone for protection and gloss. The wax will condition your paint and reduce hard-water-deposit spot formation. To keep swirl marks to a minimum, make sure you have good wash and dry tools, never wipe, rub or polish in circles (straight-line motions only), and be very careful with the use of buffers and polishers.

Our friends over at Autopia.org have a great article titled: Removing Swirl Marks, Water Spots, Paint Oxidation & Other Minor Paint Damage.

Forget the nasty chemicals, high pressure steam cleaning can be a greener alternative when it comes to cleaning both the interior and exterior of you auto.

Cleaning an engine with toxic degreasing agents has long been a contributor to water contamination due to hazardous material runoff. With the use of a high pressure steam cleaner degreasing an engine can be accomplished without the use of a cleaning agent, excessive water consumption or water damage to electrical components. The steam cleaning must be followed by the proper recycling or disposal of greasy rags and any runoff to keep it as eco-friendly as possible.

Of course if you ask us here at Beach Trading, (or some of our previous customers), the final touch to detailing your car would be the addition of some high quality Hawaiian print auto seat covers… but we’re a little biased
