We know that many of our customers are ocean lovers and beach goers so we thought this story might be of interest to lots of you.
The University of Texas at Austin surveyed the inlet between Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico and discovered that Hurricane Ike carried a tremendous amount of sand and sediment away from the coastline and into the Gulf. The hurricane gouged five-foot-deep holes and substantially degraded large ridges up to 10 feet high. Further research in this area could help determine the effectiveness of controversial beach fill projects.
