One of our staffers went out and grabbed some lunch today and when he opened up the bag to pull out his sandwich discovered there were about 8 napkins stuffed in the bag along with the sandwich!
Of course this started a discussion as to whether or not the person at the counter knew he was a slob or was merely not paying attention and just stuffing napkins in to ALL the bags of food today. Our staffer didn’t take it personally but it did get us talking… if this ONE guy is stuffing all these useless napkins into EVERY bag of food he fills today, then how many other people are wasting how many napkins in our city… our state… our country each and every day??
Thank goodness for the internet because now we can tell you.
Each and every American ‘uses’ 2,200 napkins per year – that’s over 6 per day. We say ‘uses’ because can you really ‘use’ 6 napkins per day?!?
Now if each American used just ONE less napkin per day, (how hard could that be, really?), it would save about 150 million of them. That would mean 150 million fewer would end up in the trash and less paper and trees would be wasted – pretty amazing… and simple to do!!!
