With the start of the Olympics just a week away Beijing’s efforts to clean up their air is having little effect.

Earlier this week during the opening ceremony of the Athletes’ Village, visibility was only about 1/2 mile. Many athletes are staying in South Korea, Japan and other places to avoid Beijing’s air for as long as possible and some Olympic delegations, including the U.S. Olympic Committee, are making protective masks available to their athletes.
