Come on down for the Long Beach Chapter of The Surfrider Foundation’s July general meeting on Wednesday 7/09/08 at 7pm in Barnes and Noble Bookstore in the Marina Pacifica shopping mall at PCH and 2nd Street, Long Beach, CA.
Their agenda includes:
1. An update on the Long Beach Breakwater Recon Study.
2. Find out how to implement and maintain a public recycling program along the California coastline that will be supported by local governments, not-for-profit organizations, citizens as well as its visitors while acting as an effective and efficient means to recycle bottles and cans. This issue and other subjects pertaining to our coastal and marine environment will be discussed by Darren Kopp President CEO of Shoreline Media.
3. Rise Above Plastics. Hear from Algalita Marine Research Foundation and learn the latest updates about how plastics are killing our oceans. We’re all part of the problem but we are also part of the solution. If you haven’t seen The Synthetic Sea Story by Captain Charles Moore, please join us and learn how you can help. Beth Barnes, former chair of the Long Beach Chapter of Surfrider Foundation and Algalita volunteer will make the presentation.
We all need to do our part to use less plastics and one thing you can do is to wear a rash guard shirt for your sun protection – you’ll use less sunscreen and the plastic bottles it comes in.
