Last week’s 10 hour long hearing ended on a good note for Malibu beachgoers, surfers and sea life when the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board agreed to ban septic systems in Malibu Beach, California.
Owners of homes and businesses with existing septic systems will have to halt wastewater discharges within a decade while new septic systems will not be permitted.
For years the old and over taxed septic tanks have been the source of leaks, pollution and beach closures in Malibu with the focus on the world famous Malibu Surfrider Beach.
