Surfers were greeted with 8′ waves on the opening day of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach in Australia yesterday.
The boys were happy to take advantage of the big waves and show off their skills with ASP top-ranked surfer Kelly Slater (USA) posting the highest heat total and single wave score of the day. Event officials ran 20 heats of competition to take advantage of the swell.
The women are competing as well with the Rip Curl Women’s Pro happening at the same beach.
