What may be bad news for hotel owners may be good news for vacationers: hotels in South Florida are seeing the worst slump in occupancy rates in decades.
Many hotels are reporting drops of 20% or more in their revenue with many offering deeply discounted rates or special packages.
One such hotel, the 80-room Brazilian Court hotel in Palm Beach, is offering the “Let’s Make a Deal” program, where potential guests offer a rate and the hotel can accept or counter-offer. They’re also offering ‘Staycation’ discounts for local residents and packages including lunch or dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Cafe Boulud.
County tourism bureaus are also offering promotions including restaurant discounts in Miami-Dade, spa packages in Broward and final-night stays for $19.09 in Palm Beach County.
So if you’re one of the lucky few who can still afford a vacation you may want to head south for some killer deals!
